ACCELERATE YOUR COACHING ABILITY BY YEARS
IN THREE DAYS!!!
Finally there is a
course that coaches can take to learn to call shots with incredible
accuracy.
This three day
classroom and field class delves into practical shotgun information that
most have never proven in the field but quote as ABSOLUTE FACT.
Chokes and loads, shell speed, pattern density and pellet breaking force
at distance. Gun fit and the utilization of true 50/50, 60/40, 70/30 all
the way up to 100/0 patterns can be simulated during the class. All
American and ISSF International shotgun disciplines are discussed and
can be utilized during the class.
THE TECHNOLOGY OF TODAY CAN IMPROVE YOUR
COACHING RIGHT NOW!!!
At SHOT CALL UNIVERSITY, we use the
DryfireUSATM computer training system to give
coaches who attend the class the most modern information and training
available. This training shows instantaneously on each shot the actual
shot cloud/target relationship. The ability to call shots by barrel
target relationship is learned by the coach through intense training.

“At SHOT CALL UNIVERSITY the utilization of the DryfireTM
system gives a true picture of shot cloud performance that cannot be
seen by the naked eye under live fire conditions.”

CALLING SHOTS BY THE RESULTS WON'T HELP
diagnosis is the KEY!!!
It is incredibly tempting and hard not to
look at the target the athlete has called for during the shot process.
Like barrel checking by the athlete, the coach loses focus and attention
on both the athlete’s movement and the barrel target relationship. The
barrel target relationship is the only DEFINITIVE way to call
shots. If, as a coach, you have this information from the start of your
coaching journey the END RESULT will never be utilized to give
performance changing feedback to the athlete.
END RESULT feedback is usually given
to athletes in an effort to improve score not performance. If the front
half of the target breaks use less lead, if the back half breaks use
more lead, shoot over it, under it or get out in front. The fact that
the athlete is in front, behind, top, bottom means absolutely nothing.
Definitive diagnosis of the athlete’s movement and barrel target
relationship from the time they call pull to the pull of the trigger is
everything!
“Giving the athlete information on each shot is detrimental to
sustained performance progression. As coaches, we need to learn a way of
communicating with our athletes for true performance development. Giving
feedback such as you were in front, behind, over or under sets the
athlete up for barrel checking which slows the athletes shot process
down, diminishes their performance and generally confuses the athlete”.

NOT THE COACHES FRIEND
RECOIL & MUSCLE
INFLECTION!!!
Recoil masks the athletes shot performance.
Many athletes exhibit incredible muscle inflection as the trigger is
pulled, which is a direct result of the brain reacting to recoil. We
have all seen the “javelin throw” or the loss of balance that follows a
misfire, a shell loaded in the wrong barrel, safety left on, etc. We
have also seen what should have been a hit but the bird did not break.
As coaches we wonder why the target did not
break, as does the athlete. Even if the athlete makes a perfect move
to the target, the muscle inflection at the second the trigger is pulled
often moves the barrel off the target path, thus causing a lost bird.
Apart from the negative impact muscle inflection has on the athlete’s
performance, this reaction to recoil also affects the shot call ability
of the coach. At SHOT CALL UNIVERSITY all shot processes can be
seen without the influence of recoil.
